Certified Peer Specialist Supervisor Training

What is a Certified Peer Specialist Supervisor?

A supervisor who supervises Certified Peer Specialists in a Medicaid-billable program must be either a mental health professional who has completed an approved Certified Peer Specialist Supervisor training, or an individual who has the following minimum qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree; and
• Two years of mental health direct care experience, which may include experience in peer support services;

or

• A high school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED); and
• Four years of mental health direct care experience, which may include experience in peer support services.

Anyone who becomes a Certified Peer Specialist Supervisor in a Medicaid-billable program must complete the Peer Specialist Supervisor training within six months of taking the position of peer support supervisor. The Supervisor training is a two-day course provided by the two approved training vendors in Pennsylvania, Recovery Innovations and the Institute for Recovery and Community Integration.
